I’ve been in the mood for a dress…or TWO!
Naturally, since I just finished up this V9075 jumpsuit, this was the next thing on my To-Do List! There are so many good dress patterns out there, but V9075 is on my obvious choice.
Day 1: Sleeveless V9075, View A.
This is my summertime, lightweight crepe dress. It’s a shirtweight to be exact & it’s perfect for warmer weather! Cobalt blue doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. Every girl needs some blue in her life! There’s just something about it….
This came together pretty quickly. I love the skirt length! I actually think the fabric is so lightweight that the gathered waist isn’t as defined or BULKY as I had hoped. This shirtweight material is NOT forgiving, hence no pics of the BACK of this dress! Back pics expose my back fat. Not a fan…
This was my first successful gathered skirt, & I’m happy with it nonetheless. It’s perfect for Summer… back fat and all!
- I used the same alterations as the jumpsuit, by adding to the length of the bodice, no lining etc.
- Attempted to make a v-neck – the end result was more round.
Day 2: Now… with Sleeves!
(Like…the very next day! No lie. Before I finished the 1st one, I knew the 2nd was soon to follow)
I used a thicker crepe, in black, this time.
SIDENOTE: I love sewing with crepes! There’s so many options and the texture is so versatile.
I made this one for the cooler months, as the crepe is a bit thicker and I opted to add sleeves this time around too. Confession – I love wearing black. I try to break out and wear other, more vibrant colors, but black is my tried & true. It never fails.
The heavier fabric is more forgiving!! No exposed rolls = success!!
Naturally, I love you the pockets on this dress. It makes it functional for more casual days, but it’s still dressy for date night.
- Same as the jumpsuit, no changes to the neckline.
The pattern makers say this is ‘very easy vogue’ but anything asking for a zipper is on the intermediate side of things for me.
Elastic = very easy! Zippers & Lining = Intermediate.
I can’t remember the last time I went into a sewing project knowing exactly what I wanted and had the opportunity to finish it so quickly. It felt SOOOOO good!! Each dress took me about…. 4 hours or so to complete. It was the best weekend I’ve had in a LONG TIME!!! (tons of sewing, peace & quiet). It really is………… priceless! 🙂
I have a few things on my next list of To-Do’s… Keep ya posted!
Until Next Time,
