When you see this sign when you first drive up, you already know “nothing but trouble can come of this!”
I’ve seen the posts and pics on IG. I’ve even heard the stories of all the deals that thrift stores have. I had to see for myself what all the hype was about. Luckily, I have a close friend willing to share her hot spots around town so that I can enjoy the fruits of all this thrift store love too!
Before I start, I’ve been on a serious mission to revamp my wardrobe. I would love to say that I want to sew my entire wardrobe, but… let’s be honest, shopping is fun! And if I can do this on a budget + throw some of my own pieces in there too! Shoot! However I get it, it’s time.
Mission: Revamp My Wardrobe in 2015!
Note to self: Thrift stores have sales too! And… the Salvation Army is closed on MLK Day (at least in the DFW), despite what the website says!
Since this was my first time going to a thrift store, all I can think is how happy it made me feel!!!!! If you’ve never been, can you imagine going to your favorite store (all labels included) where you can buy what you need for a FRACTION of the cost? And when I say fraction, I mean brand new jeans for $3.49, marked down an additional 50% off. Un-imaginable, right? Right! I couldn’t believe it. Still can’t!
I was overwhelmed with…. PLEASURE! It was better than getting a massage. No… seriously!
Like all things, there’s rules to thrifting:
1. Help fellow shoppers out. It can be hard to find sizes, so assist as needed.
2. Yield to the right of way. People are on a mission. Get out of the way.
3. Have fun! There are deals to be had and shopping is always fun, so… just have fun!
Check out what I brought home…
Sweaters & a Jacket
Overall…. I spent an incredible $60.44. I was amazed! I was feeling guilty before getting to the checkout counter, afraid of how much I’d have to shell out, but it was shocking to hear this amount. A-mazed!
After I got home, I was inspired me to go through my clothes and see what I could give away. I plan on doing this regularly until I’m content with the con-tent 😉
Pre Closet Haul…
It was a great day! I think thrifting is a great way to compliment your wardrobe and still have your sanity & your money in tact.
Out with the old and in with the new-to-me clothes!
