PLAID DIY V8930 COAT

PLAID DIY V8930 COAT

#TGIFriday Chicas!

Today’s post is another V8930 coat remake, in plaid this time around…  This coat was one of my favorites to wear – and the only one I made, might I add – last year.  I wore this coat SO much, that I started to wear the fabric OUT!

I made a few changes this time around.

I decided against using Fleece and I also wanted to add some color to the lining…

Fabric Selected – Plaid Wool Blends from Hancock Fabrics, red lining fabric, also from Hancock.  I cut a size Medium.

I added 4in vents on either side of the back panel.

I added my TAG next to the vent!

I love the red lining!

And I rolled up the sleeves for a little something!  I tacked them in place where the sleeve seams meet, on the fold.

I really like this coat – even more, this time around!

This V8930 coat is such a popular pattern.  The 2nd time around, I still think this pattern is great for the novice sewer who would like to try a rewarding project, that won’t take up too much time to complete.  The instructions are very straight forward, if you’re comfortable with reading commercial pattern instructions.  There are few pattern pieces as well.  If you’ve got this pattern on your sewing list – go for it!!

What is your favorite coat pattern?

Tell me your thoughts below!

Xoxo,

Nikki 🙂

Great minds indeed! Love the plaid and red lining! I don’t own V8930 but I may have to snatch it up during the next Vogue sale.

My favorite coat pattern this year is B6244, I’ve made it 3 times (one was a gift). It is simple as it had no lining or fasteners. I still want to make a “real” coat before the season ends and V8930 might be it. Thanks.

I’ll have to check out B6244. Speaking of a real coat, I’m almost finished with one and LOVE IT! I’ll be sharing a pattern review as soon as it’s hemmed. (V9040)

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting! 🙂

Nikki I love it! That red lining is beautiful. You have inspired me to make this when I return from Miami next week.

Nikki I love it! that red lining makes it pop. I like the idea of rolling up and tacking the sleeve. I don’t have this pattern, but will get at next sale. Think I’ll make thus when I get back from Miami on 2 weeks.
