Welcome to The Jacket Dress Sewalong!

I’m so glad that you’ve decided to join me for the Jacket Dress Sewalong!  Together, we’ll be walking through the steps of joining the Vogue Pattern 8825 with a self drafted skirt bottom.

If you don’t already have your copy of the Vogue Pattern, you’ll want to make sure to pick it up at your local fabric store or you can order it HERE.

How It Works

This sewalong will be simple.  I will publish a series of posts and videos detailing each step in the process of sewing your pattern.  You can sew along with me, ask questions, and share your techniques and advice with others.

Feel free to leave comments here on the blog, or you can contact me directly with questions.  I promise to try my best to answer as many questions as possible.

To keep up with this, the best thing to do is subscribe (scroll down!).

  • Pick your fabric (pre-treat, as needed)

A Breakdown of Fabric Requirements

Refer HERE for your fabric widths, depending on the standard Ankara Fabrics or the industry standard of 54 – 60in fabrics.  You’ll gauge the amount of to buy with the type of garment, see PAGE 2.  For example, I bought and used 4 yards of 45′ Ankara Fabric for my jacket.  This was sufficient for the bodice and the self drafted skirt.

*This may change, depending in your measurements.

  • Weeks 1 & 2 – February 15th – 27th  >> Buy pattern + fabric (matching thread, needles)
  • Week 3 – February 28th – March 5th >> Cut pattern + fabric pieces
  • Week 4 – March 6th – March 12th >> Sew your bodice.  Attach sash to bodice.
  • Week 5 – March 13th – March 19th >> Draft your sash + skirt.  Attach bodice, skirt & sash.  Attach bodice to skirt bottom.

I’m excited to see your creations!!  Don’t forget, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask me – email me HERE, or you can find me on any of my Social Media outlets, @AFashionAddict1 or @a_fashion_addict1!
