Devil in a Blue [DIY] Dress!

Devil in a Blue [DIY] Dress!

It’s about that time… We’re getting into the Summer months and the weather in Texas is shouting out DRESS SEASON.  Bust out your TNT (tried – n – true) patterns and make something happen.

Enter… my summertime Blue [DIY] Dress

DIY V8840 Pattern Hack

This time around, I chose Vogue Pattern V8840, also seen HERE.

  • I cut the front on the fold
  • Added a facing to the neckline, with a hook & eye closure to the back (hand stitched)
  • Added 7.5 inches to the length
  • Add 1.5 inches from the hip down to the hem

I used this Wool Double Cloth Crepe Suiting from Mood Fabrics.  This fabric is great for different types of weather.  I can see myself transitioning with this dress into Fall.

I must admit, I’ve turned the corner and decided to invest in what I would call the-more-expensive fabrics and I’m so happy that I did!!!  This fabric sews up like a gem!

This is a very easy pattern to work with and I definitely recommend this for novice sewers!

Whether you’re looking for an easy DIY top or a quick feel-good project, V8840 is a great pattern to work with.

Are we done yet?!

I really like to wear dresses that I can just throw on and don’t need to tug on for comfort.  This pullover dress with a simple hook & eye closure accomplishes this for me.  Next up… I may try my hand at a shift dress!

Until next time….
