Life has been pretty busy lately…
I’m waking up early to workout 3x a week. Work life has been ever-changing and pretty stressful, so my weekends have become my time to rest! Getting that quality time with my sewing machine has been…. a somewhat, distant memory.
Outside of recording for the sewalong, I haven’t done much sewing. I’ve been extremely low on inspiration for new sewing projects, but I’ve taken some much needed time to learn some new sewing skills with the help of Craftsy classes.
What To Expect (when buying online classes): After purchasing the classes, I first just started watching the videos first, so I could familiarize myself with the process. Each class has a ‘course materials’ PDF that you download and will need to purchase some materials before starting your project.
Here are the classes I’ve enrolled in, so far:
Currently making my skirt sloper, using this class. My goal is to make myself a completely self-drafted pencil skirt (or 2).
Since I am totally self taught, I’m not a real fan of doing the math in measurements, BUT I’ve realized that if you’re truly into the art of sewing and creating good quality garments, this is something that will really help. The instructor is really good. She’s very informative. She goes a little fast, but luckily you can pause & rewind the recording. There’s a lot of interaction with these classes with others that have also enrolled and are working on their projects. The instructor does reply with each question/concern.
The classes are always available to you, with unlimited access.
Up next – my bodice sloper. I’m hoping to be able to make myself some custom dresses and tops with using this sloper.
My more complex project…. I’ve purchased the classic tailoring / blazer class and this will be a future project for me. The pattern comes with this class from the McCall Pattern Co, but there are several materials that I’ll need to purchase for this particular class. More to follow….

The sewalong concludes with forming your pleated skirt bottom, attaching pockets and sewing the skirt to your bodice. I really look forward to seeing all or your Jacket Dresses, so please don’t forget to TAG ME in your photos online! I’ll be sharing the video with this final step, later this week!
